Ceramics : Liz Stace
Liz has been working with clay for 27 years. Most of her training was done at Tonbridge Adult Education centre where she took City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 courses. In 2006 Liz completed a part time degree in the History and Theory of Art at the Tonbridge outreach centre of the University of Kent. Since her graduation she has more time for her ceramic work.
Liz has taken part in South East Open Studios for the last seven years. She also sells her work at Craft Fairs and to regular private customers and friends. Her work is also on display in The Studio in Otford, 136 Gallery in East Peckham, A Touch of Clay in Sevenoaks, Canterbury Art Fair 08, and also at Farnham in November.
Liz's work is generally wheel thrown, functional, domestic pieces which include, bottles, vases, jugs, bowls of all sizes, including bowls with glass filled double rims, mugs and candle holders. She is also producing semi-functional bowls with altered rims, decorated with several layers of glaze to create flowing surfaces which, Liz hopes, reproduce the seas and oceans she saw on the other side of the world, during recent travels.
